Nice script! Not a Python programmer so I am very new to this. Did you figure out the way to send the alert via text message to your mobile phone?

After several false starts in getting QNAP support involved, they told me a few weeks ago to wait for 3.8.2 to see if it would fix the issue. I applied 3.8.2 last night and saw that the darn thing rebooted itself four times over the course of 10+ hours as it was trying to complete the sync process. Fortunately, the sync finally finished with the "Q-RAID 1 initial syncing finished successfully." entry in the log and the device seems to be stable.

The odd thing is that when this problem first started occurring, I let the NAS reboot multiple times as it kept getting closer to 100% sync completion. However, it wouldn't get to 100% and I had to resort to disconnecting the eSata drive.

Since it now appears to be working fine, I am going to switch the HDD back to my raw drive caddy vs the older HDD enclosure to verify that it still works. I assume it will be OK.

just found your blog while trying to figure out what happened to my triggered scripts…they used to work, but after the recent updates (&downgrades dues to stuttering: see http://www.avsforum.com/t/1376592/eyetv-stuttering/30)-: they seem to have disappeared: the directory is gone…wtf!?!?!?!

Thanks for posting this - I found it really useful when fitting an SSD into my own 2006 20" iMac.

I also struggled with the cable length, even though the bracket I used for the SSD was pretty flexible in terms of mounting points, and the drive connectors were really very close to where the old ones were. In the end I got it to connect, with a bit of brute force, although the power cable is still a bit wonky - it just won't stretch, but stays in ok!

The bracket I used was a plastic one from eBay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dynamode-2-5-to-3-5-SSD-to-HDD-Adaptor-Bracket-Cradle-Solid-State-Drive-/221075780943?pt=UK_Computing_Case_Accessories_Tool_Kits&hash=item337924b54f

As I say, I was quite impressed with the mounting options it provided, and if need be you could cut it to size (but it fitted for me just fine).

I've uploaded some pics of the drive in situ, in the hope that others might find them helpful:

Interesting. I just did the forklift upgrade a few weeks ago, installing a parallel TS-119PII, a Thermaltake BlackX caddy and 3x WD red 2TB drives. I don't see the issues you're seeing, but after a while, after the initial sync completes, rsync seems to nearly always be running. Part of this may be that I set up TM backups for my work macbook, and it always seems to be changing bits, even if the change on the macbook is tiny.

I will say that the NFS support seems to be better. With the 109 our WDTV units had a hard time reliably seeing the NFS mounts. With the 119PII, it seems them reliably.

I'm kind of surprised that there are real, functional, differences between ESATA enclosures. I would have expected them to all be the same.

Hi there,

if somebody is also looking for some exporting to Plex, it might be worth to also have a look at these scripts:

These scripts are great! Have been using a mixture of bits before but this is the best all in one! Have now implemented it and really enjoying the ease of it all and how automated it is now.

I've been trying to workout how to do adding of new files into iTunes from another machine. The reason for this is that i have EyeTV and my transcoding running on one MacMini (MM01) and my iTunes on another MacMini (MM03). I have a NAS to store the iTunes library and the files so each machine can see all the correct files.
The scripts are working great on the one MacMini (MM01) added to iTunes as it should.

What I'm having trouble with is building a script to run on the iTunes MacMini (MM03) to add the files with the correct metadata. From what i can see in the scripts it uses the osascript tool and the EyeTV application to gather the show title, ID, description etc would that be correct?
I've mounted my EyeTV Archive onto the MM03 and updated the paths in the new script I've created (extracting parts of both scripts) but i can't fully work it out but imagine it wont work as EyeTV is not installed?
Also i think i may run into the trouble of the original EyeTV file being deleted on MM01 before the script has completed on MM03 to add it to iTunes. I guess i can add an appropriate delay where needed.

Any advise to point me in the right direction is appreciated.

Thanks again for sharing this great scripts.
